Steve C left this review about Sir John Arderne (JD Wetherspoon)

The Sir John Arderne is a Wetherspoons with a bar counter along the rear wall that supports the usual keg alongside two banks of five hand pumps. These were drawing Welbeck’s Mistress of the Robe, Nottingham Brewery’s Bullion, Beermats Brewing’s Sum’mat Twisted and Newby Wyke Brewery’s Bear Island alongside the usual three Spoon’s suspects. A sprawling pub that was one of the busier during a recent midweek evening visit, worth a look to see what’s on.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Sir John Arderne (JD Wetherspoon)

Very close to the famed Market Place, but not immediately obvious because it is housed in an old building mostly screened by another. Partly opened-out when given the 'spoons treatment, but there is a variety of seating / dining spaces (both large and small). Coming out of lockdown, there were only four real ales available from the two banks of five handpumps, but at least this included a pair from Pheasantry - Pale and Lincoln Tank (£2.15) - as alternatives to Ruddles and Abbot.

The Sir John Arderne is a Wethersspoons that is situated on the corner of the market place,so very handy for shoppers.
Once inside there is an irregular shaped room which is divided into different areas be pillars, the bar is on the right side, the seating is mainly normal tables and chairs plus a few tall ones.
The guest beer choice was pretty poor on my Thursday morning visit,i had a drink of Thwaites Lancaster Bomber which went down well, the other beers noted were Adnams Broadside,Doom Bar,GK Abbot x 2 and Ruddles best x2.
The pub was very busy with most having the breakfasts.
I quite liked this Spoons and will no doubt visit again when in Newark.
