Aqualung . left this review about The Summoner (JD Wetherspoon)

This is only a medium sized Spoons positioned at the end of what seems to be a fairly run down High Street. The interior is rather more welcoming than the exterior consisting of an open plan carpeted rectangular room with the bar at the far left. The furnishings are fairly typical. On my morning visit there was a mixture of a few daytime brigade types, mothers with young children and others.
The bar has only six hand pumps which on my visit had the two GK beers, Doom Bore, a beer from the previous festival and two local beers Rockin' Robin Reckless Robin and Wantsum Chinook. I went for the Chinook (£2.05) which was excellent.
There are no architectural pub features to gaze adoringly at here but at least you don't get fleeced for a rubbish mainstream beer.
I liked it here and preferred it to the new one at the other end of town. It's GBG 2016 listed.

The Summoner is a large open plan Wetherspoons with a bar in the far left hand corner that is stocked with standard draught and supports six hand pumps. There were a couple of guest ales on and the likes of Ruddles were found on the remaining four pumps. I was surprised to see a dartboard to the left of the bar and even more surprised to see a lively group of lads playing a few legs. There are a couple of plasma screens that were showing muted rolling news and a weekly quiz is advertised for Wednesdays from 20:00.

I found this to be an average Spoons that I wouldn’t go out of my way to visit again.

The single large bar in a former commercial building (was the Hulburd's shop until 1998), typical of JDW's less pleasant properties is quite dingy as described by Roger below. The clientele are a mixture of shopping mums, office workers from the nearby Council buildings and residents of the "hotels" just across the road looking ofr their cheap alcohol fix. All in all, quite seedy. On the plus side, though, the staff were unusually good for a 'Spoons', friendly and very pleasant. The beer range was good too - 5 ales on, I had a pint of Cairgorm Wildcat which was in great condition and, unusually, not too cold. It's worth including in a crawl, especially if you've got the CAMRA vouchers, but I wouldn't want to spend too long here.
