A five minute walk South of the Rat & Ratchet is Tee Star. A very traditional looking pub on both the outside and inside. They have regular beer festivals and were in the process of setting up for one the following week when we visited. Plenty of handpumps on the bar without the festival ones. My pint of Atom Singularity was in very good nick and the regulars seem like a friendly bunch. Just be aware that it doesn't open until 5 Tuesday - Friday and not at all on Monday. A very good pub though.

This is a very good traditional pub about a five to ten minute walk south of the Huddersfield ring road and is worth the walk and isn’t that far from the acclaimed Grove and rat and ratchet to be done as part of a decent treble. The comfortable carpeted interior is well described below and on an absolute foul early Friday evening the PuG crawl crew really appreciated the wood burner in the small area dividing rul which was making the pub very cosy.
As well as Pictish Brewers Gold and TT Boltmaker, which I believe are house beers, Captain Cook Brewery Slipway, Brightside TFI Friday, Atom Singularity, Mallinsons Centennial, Stockport G W Buck Bitter and Oakham Ales Study in Scarlet were on the other pumps for our visit. I tried the Oakham and Atom brews and they were both in good condition.
Although virtually empty except for one other when we arrived, there was a decent number by the time we left as the locals started coming in after work.
A good pub and well worth the walk when in Huddersfield.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Star Inn

Traditional side-street pub, with a partially opened-out two-room layout with various seating areas. Retains an old-fashioned (in a good way) 'local' feel, with no new-fangled electronic entertainment apparatus but keeping a real fire. Eight of ten regular handpumps in use on the main bar, with a fine selection of mostly local beers, although I went for the Atom Singularity (£1.45, half). Also has a row of other pulls on the rear counter for beer festivals, etc. Well worth the short walk south from the town centre.
