Haven't been in here for thirty years+. Bar to the immediate front on entrance. Pool table to the left, then seating area. Room to the right and restaurant to the rear. Couple of nondescript hand pumps.

Fortunately the beer situation referred to in the old review below is very much a thing of the past. There were four real ales on hand pump when I was here: Timothy Taylor Landlord, Black Sheep Bitter, Sharps Doom Bar and Moorhouses Blond Witch. I had the Black Sheep, which was OK without being in top condition. We had some food from the extensive bar meals menu, which was reasonably priced and tasty if unadventurous. There is also a restaurant, which looked as though it might be a little pricier.

A CD player was serving up random hits from the 60s, 70s and more at a volume which just about allowed a conversation to proceed, though we did change tables from one underneath a loudspeaker. There's a pool table and a large TV screen next to it, which is presumably used for sports - on the occasion of my visit it was showing BBC1 with the sound off (or possibly just drowned by the hits) - what's the point of this? It's just an annoyance, as far as I'm concerned. Apart from these quibbles, this is an OK place if you've developed a thirst or an appetite walking around the nearby woods, but not one that deserves a visit for its own sake.

A Major Dissapointment NO BEER!!!
Pub changing hands in the New Year and all stock run down as a result only a few bottles of Newcastle Brown vaailable, some Carling and woodpecker.
Pub has a food offering and a small carpark with a large pay and display accross the road.
Not worth visiting until the new owners are in.
