Al Bundy left this review about The Golden Lion

Just as you come into the main part of Middlewich. Bedecked with flowering baskets making it look like a well kept pub. Fairly traditional in style inside with a couple of cask ales on. One of the better pubs in Middlewich centre.

Bucking Fastard left this review about The Golden Lion

At the edge of town, this tidy pub has a good floral display on the outside. The interior is largely open plan with two section either side of the front door,to the left with some round tables and to the right with a few benches, more rustic style furniture and a Sky Sports flatscreen.Past the bar up a few stairs is a quiet rear snug, with another flatscreen and it's own bar access and the haunt of the Golden Lion Golf Society.
There are three handpumps at the bar with Tetley's Bitter as a regular and ,on my trip, two from Merlin in The Wizard (very good nick £3) and Merlins Gold.
There is accomodation available and an all day breakfast is served from 7.30am.My visit was on a Friday evening , the pub was popular with locals out for a few drinks, and I would say this pub is worth a visit if you are looking for a decent pint of real ale in Middlewich.
