Super pub - worthy entry in the 2018 Good Beer Guide. Multi roomed, with large dining area around the back and lounge with real fire at the front.

Beers were Holdens and Bathams. Bathams at £3.25 and in fine condition.

Recommended.

The pub is well dscribed in previous reviews , it is a very food led traditional country pub , the food is exellent as is the beer .
Next door to the church , which is handy as i have relatives in the village so a great pub for pre/post wedding/funeral/christening drinks .
Worth a visit

This is one of the few Holden's pubs that is a genuine country pub. Trysull is a small South Staffordshire village and this pub is in the centre of it by the church. Remarkably the village is only about five miles away from busy Wolverhampton. It's not easy to get here by public transport, there is some sort of bus but it is a Mickey Mouse service. I walked the mile and a half or so from the bus stop at the North end of Wombourne and got a cab back to Wombourne which itself has a 15 minute bus service to Wolverhampton.
The canal brigade have things slightly easier as the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal passes closer by but I don't know if there any parking places.
I failed to find the public bar mentioned below so ended up in the lounge.
There were five beers on Holden's Black Country Bitter & Golden Glow, Batham's Best, Salopian Shropshire Gold and Hopback Summer Lightning. I'm all for any brewery tied house having guest ales but this is the first time I've seen guests outnumber the tied products. I was hoping to find the Holden's Mild here. Prices varied from £2.60 for the Holden's bitter to £3.00 for the Batham's Best and Summer Lightning. Both the Black Country Bitter and Golden Glow were in excellent nick.
I came here with great expectations but left slightly disappointed. The whole place is strongly food orientated and I found the lounge a bit twee, Not having the mild on didn't help either. I would still recommend it as it is a Holden's tied house, a GBG regular and a very pleasant country pub.
