Old Boots left this review about The Angel Inn

As others have commented a rather plain Sam Smiths pub and one of the alley pubs off Briggate. Upstairs there are two rooms, one with a counter and finished in Victorian style with red walls and a tartan carpet, portraits of Yorkshire worthys decorate the walls to inspire, or otherwise, the drinker. Downstairs also has two rooms in cream with maps and old photos, again one room has a counter. The usual coldish average OBB plus the rest of the Sam's range at the usual low prices. A fruit machine makes an appearance and there is a lot of outdoor seating. One side of the yard is formed by the windows of the Ship next door although there is no connection between the pubs.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Angel Inn

One of the 'famous four' alleyway pubs off Briggate; certainly the cheapest, but definitely not the best. It is a multi-roomed Sam Smiths house with plain furniture and decor. OBB on handpump, but had the excellent value Extra Stout at £2.20 on my recent visit. Overall, I have tried hard over the years to like this place but it is one that I have never felt particularly comfortable in.

Alan Winfield left this review about The Angel Inn

The Angel is up an alley off Leeds main shopping street and this pub is a Samuel Smiths tied house.
Once inside here i went in the room to the left which was not as full as the smaller room, the floor was bare boards but the seating was fairly comfortable and i quite liked it in here, there was the one real ale on which was Old Brewery bitter which was very cheap and very drinkable.
I would have happily stayed here for another drink.
