An authentic and friendly boozer with external Gray signage.The internal space is open plan and carpeted with the bar tucked into the rear left corner in a gentle curve.The furniture is a real mix with some high tables,fitted benches and dining style tables.Near the bar at two flatscreen for BT Sport but on mute,the muzak was gentle.Regulars gather around the bar ,some on bar stools .Outside there is a courtyard garden.
The bar supports 6 handpumps with on my visit a choice of Harvey's Sussex Best and Elizabethan Ale,Adnams Ghost Ship,a St Austell Tribute clip reversed , Crouch Vale Amarillo and Brewers Gold (NBSS 1.5,a distinct tang of pipe cleaner fluid,I couldn't be bothered to get in a conversation about this with the overworked barmaid)
I may have been unlucky but for a GBG entry the pipe cleaner issue is a schoolboy error and maybe shows a lack of care or too many ales being offered versus the throughput. Shame as it's not a bad pub.

Wonderfull pub,cheap home cooked food,good choice of real ales... Perfect..except for the car parking!! This pub is my ideal ale house,100 whiskies,frendly locals,great landlord & 'atmosphere!'.. I'm wary of recommending it in case it becomes overcrowded??& I would have given it 10 out of 10 but for the parking.Still,you can always park at sainsbury's 'round the corner & walk it?Get in early if you want to eat..they run out of food..See you there?
