Much improved since our visit to this pub as the JDW Swim Inn. It's still the same basic shape, but it's been opened out in some areas and made into different distinct areas elsewhere. The range of beers isn't as extensive as it was when it was a JDW, but there were 4 ales on the bar and the 2 we had were in good condition. The service is much improved as well.

Probably the worst of the Spoons in central Sheffield. It's not a particularly good ambience due to the shape/design of the place. The barmaid who served us was a complete jobsworth and stunningly inefficient. There were a couple of guest ales on the bar but several others weren't on despite having pump clips on them. I had a decent pint of Abbeydale and the other half had a Benchmark Shiraz as usual. Whilst we were being served a group of 8 were ordering food all together. They sat near us and their meals arrived one by one over a 20 minute period and when we left 2 people still hadn't got their meals. It's not good and the Bath Hotel, Red Deer & Devonshire Cat are all close by. I'd go to one of those not here.

Reported to be closing this week and opening again later under new owners Hawthorne Leisure.

Review November 2014
This one wasn't on my agenda for my day in Sheffield but due to inept route finding I found myself walking past it so had to go in. It takes up a small part of a Victorian baths and swimming pool but the interior is rather dull and modern and by JDW standards this isn't one of their larger outlets. Despite this there was a better than average selection of guest and Locale ales, the only boring options being GK Ruddles and Abbot. Beers noted were Acorn Ginger Nuts, Milestone Little John, Farmer's Belgian Blue, Chantry New York Pale and Everard's Low Blow Session IPA. There was also a cider available soon and a Mild that I couldn't catch the name of but I'm guessing it would be a local one. To add to the decent ale selection, a standard guest ale (the majority of them) were just £1.85, 10p more than Ruddles but considerably less than Abbot. I went for the Acorn Ginger Nuts which was in good nick but not the best ginger beer I've ever tried.
Despite the dull interior I would return here as it's on the Tram route to Kelham Island and is the cheapest Spoons I've been to which earns it an extra mark.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Swim Inn (JD Wetherspoon)

The old façade belies the modernised interior, irregular in shape and with a raised seating area plus an unusual indoor 'terrace' with open shutters along the frontage (possibly a remnant of the building's former life as the Glossop Road Baths). Eight out of ten handpumps working, with a reasonable selection of real ales including Willy's Wheatbeer from the Springhead Brewery (£1.95).
