How the mighty have fallen, once one of the best in Scarborough, sadly no longer. I popped in to be confronted by a horseshoe of dreary beers, asked the fucwit behind the bar about one that looked drinkable but he had to clean some line or other rather than stick a few quid of mine in the till - I left.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Indigo Alley
The name might suggest a brash nightclub with gaudy neon lighting, but the reality is something completely different: an ultra-basic alehouse, with bare boards and very limited decor. Covered pool table by the back wall. Good selection from the six handpumps, including Wentworth Oyster Stout (£2.80). Worth stopping by if walking to or from the North Cliff area.

A pub that belies its name and exterior, inside is classic "alehouse" style; bare boards, plain walls, old stuff decor with a mix of scruffy furniture and six hand pumps of obscure micro breweries beer, some at wacky gravities. It's also got the tongue and groove, bench seating, darts that ale houses need as well as pool and screens for modern day traditionalists and some musical instrument sculpture for others. GBG2014 listed and the beer quality is well up to the mark. It benefits from a small smoking area beyond the lav's and it advertises itself as "sprog and dog friendly", neither there on my visit but very busy with middle aged punters. The beers were all £2 a pint which may or may not have been due to the CAMRA AGM circus being in town. Live music Friday and Saturday. Beside the fire place is a small photo of the pub is its former guise of the Nottingham Hotel and a quick look above the outside door showed the same words still carved there.
