This village pub has upped it's game since my last visit with a decent selection of ale and well cooked pub food. The chef was checking that customers were happy with their fare ,and there is a wide mix of customers from locals to cyclists ,boaters and visitors to the Shugborough Estate. There is a seperate restaurant to the carpark side of the building if you want to eat away from the popular lounge .Despite the flatscreen ,the whole interior has a traditional feel , real fireplaces and fine beer quality as reflected in the GBG 2011 listing.I have to congratulate the owners on their enlightened policy of employing a bevvy of very attractive barmaids,a tactic which does add another very good reason to call in,and ensures a loyal local customer base. Will pop back when next in the area.

A large, one roomed pub with tables used for both drinking and eating. The place has been spruced up since my last visit a few years ago and feels clean, fresh and well lit.
Many were taking advantage of a well priced and freshly cooked menu and our food, although fairly basic lunchtime fare, was good value and well cooked. I'd recommend the hot beef and garlic butter sandwich.
Six handpumps with Brains Rev. James, Adnams Broadside, Bass and Speckled Hen on as regulars and two guests, Old Hooky and Shugborough Mi Lady's Fancy on our visit. The latter was very good and is brewed locally.
I agree with Mr Dragon, a quality village boozer and well worth it's GBG 2010 entry.

A large detached brick pub and restaurant, with part white and timber exterior and beer garden. In the GBG 2010.

The interior has a restaurant in grey and white decor and a main bar, in red and white, which is open plan around the central bar. There is also a red tiled floor. There are plaenty of photos of the pub and village on the wallls and a collection of trophies. There was a TV, or two, showing the World cup match as well. The service was good, the clientele was more maturer (my age!) and it was busy enough. We didn't try the food.

Beer; tap stuff, with Bombardier, Spekky Hen, Bass Hopback Summer lightning, Adnams Broadside (very good) and Midsummer Madness - though i neglected to take the brewery's name for this.

A super village pub, worth a visit and it's place in the GBG 2010. The best place in either Haywood in my opinion.
