The Royal Oak has seating to the right of the entrance and more seating and an L-shaped bar to the left. More seating is found at the rear before doors that lead to a large paved beer garden out the back. There are televisions for showing BT Sport and some background music was playing. The Wednesday quiz is heavily advertised. The bar supports premium and standard keg as well as three hand pumps. One was unused leaving Black Edge and Brewer’s Gold as the ale options. I thought this place was a bit weird.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Royal Oak

Decent pub located a short distance north of the town centre and having the benefit of being seemingly the only place in Wigan (apart from the 'spoons) serving food after 19:00 on a Monday evening... Anyway, it has been partly opened-out inside to leave a 'L'-shaped bar with a semi-traditional look with plenty of light wood furniture. The smaller side lounge / dining area is more richly furnished, and there is plenty of patio tables out the back (including a row of covered booths)plus a narrow front terrace. Only three of five handpumps were in use, offering Phoenix White Tornado (£3.10), Reedly Hallows Old Laund bitter and a Lilley's cider.

an interesting quirky pub, run by the same people as the Fifteens outlets. a comfortable open plan interior with a few different areas. large and impressive beer garden with booths, a bar, table football and an out of order popcorn cart! reasonably priced cask ales and food served all day. worth the quick walk out of the centre if you're in town.
