Ian Mapp left this review about The Royal Hotel

traditonal coaching house with many original features and rooms separated by wooden panelling.

Stancill Brewery had a couple of options on and in good condition.

Nice place.

Will Larter left this review about The Royal Hotel

A large old hotel near the river, with wood panelling throughout. On the walls are numerous photos of local cricket teams through the ages.

There's a centrally placed bar featuring half a dozen hand pumps, with one cider and a selection of ales from local breweries such as Hornbeam (of Denton) and Hydes. Several different areas surround the bar, each with their own character, though the furniture was mostly fairly standard tables and chairs. This is an unpretentious pub with a friendly atmosphere.
