Splendid unspoiled interior with various areas divided off by carved wooden arches. There are three main areas, two with direct access to the servery. At each side is a larger sitting room the right hand one with banquette seating being served with a counter, in the middle a snug like area with banquettes, a piano and a machine. On the left is more seating at banquettes with a couple of separate tables. The right hand room has a pinball table and I think upstairs is a function room mainly used for heavy metal music recitals.
Camra plays down this impressive Victorian interior and mentions the Globe brewery, like Quinno I didn’t find any of their beers on, four from Millstone across the three pulls in the front bar and two in the right hand bar. The kegs were fairly different though. Sadly the mirrors in the left hand bar were disfigured with football tripe.

Dark old skool boozer. Plenty of old wood and dark green with lots of detail when you get your eye in. Big mirrors, almost London in feel, overall. Four cask on including 3x Milestone and their Stout was pretty good (NBSS 3.5). I didn’t note anything from Globe Brewery, however. Nice traditional vibe which I enjoyed. Hasn’t made the GBG cut which on the basis of this visit felt mildly surprising. It was top 3 in town for me on the day.

Found this to be a really friendly pub. Good traditional style pub and the drinks were fine.
