Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Boatman

Solid-looking corner pub still proudly displaying its heritage with a prominent Take Courage illuminated sign above the main door. Also retains its original wood panelling on all the walls around the opened-out 'U'-shaped bar area, together with a nautical-style wooden gantry right around the central servery. Limited amount of furniture about the place, probably explained by the small stage set up for live music. Dartboard, pool table and sports TV screen also noted on the former saloon bar. Just Courage Best (£3.30) from the four handpumps, but at least it's still doing real ale.

This is a small U-shaped pub that has a stage in the corner that is used for live music nights. There is also a pool table, two television screens and a projector screen that are used for showing Sky Sports. There is a sign on the entrance stating that there is a minimum spend of £5 when matches are being shown, but I’m not sure how this is enforced. There was no sport on during my visit so the projector was rolled up and the screens were of and there was some rock and roll music playing. The Guinness was well served and a standard draught selection was available. There are four hand pumps, but two were unused and the other two had Courage Best clips that were both turned around.

There is a tarmac ‘beer garden’ out the back that has some picnic tables.

It was very quiet in here during the afternoon, but I imagine that the atmosphere is better at the weekends and on Thursdays when it is rock and roll night. This also wouldn’t be a bad destination to watch the match.

Do they do any real ale? I noticed when I walked past earlier that they have Youngs stickers in the window, but that doesn't mean they actually serve it.
