This is a modern pub with no obvious predecessor, dating back to at least the early '70s when it was a local's pub called the Robinson Crusoe in honour of local resident Daniel Defoe, author of the eponymous novel. Since then it had a short stint (aren't they all) as a branch of Tommy Flynn's and as of this year, renamed after the charming park which it overlooks.
The place is marked by its exposed brick chimneybreast which makes it look like a house in the American Mid-West, this is an attractive location which is probably best described as Highbury rather than Stoke Newington despite the N16 and not N5 postcode. This is a long pub with a long field panelled copper-topped bar to the rear. Bare boarded of course, furniture is conventional with tea lights on the tables. Below the windows are stalls with grey leatherette button back upholstered bench seats with some ornate wallpaper. There are TVs (off) as well as an attractive tiled metal fireplace.
Customers seemed to be either elderly or American, perhaps attracted by the chimneybreast? I'd expect to see some students in here too as there's a new accommodation block opposite.
Ales: two pumps unused, one pump with the clip reversed, Reunion Ales Incredible Pale Ale and Truman's Zephyr which although good, weighed in at a mighty £4.40 a pint which is taking the Mickey considering the area.
In all, this is a bit like a refurbished 1970s' hotel bar but is better than expected, especially considering the customers I used to see loitering about the place. However, there's better to be had locally and when you consider the area, the prices are obscene.

Standard draught and football on the three plasmas are the order of the day in this pub. It was depressingly quite on Sunday evening, maybe there was no popular sport being shown to draw the locals in.
The barmaid was nice enough and there is a dartboard and i'd imagine it being ok for the fotball, but I'd avoid at other times.
