This is a nice looking old pub tucked away in a corner by Romford Market. It's a Greene King pub so there's a fair bit of grey inside. You enter into a small lobby from which a couple of doors lead into the pub proper. It's now opened up inside of course, but these doors would no doubt once have given access to completely separate saloon and public bars. The area on the left has a snug to the left of it, which looks as if it's been appropriated from an adjoining building. There are a couple of nice tiled fireplaces, one in each of the old public and saloon bars, and very much on the plus side there's a fair bit of what I think is original Victorian etched and cut glass still in place. The room on the right stretches back to an area containing a pool table, which may also have been brought into pub use since the pub was built. Furnishings are mixed - the area on the left has mainly normal tables and chairs, with the area on the right mainly tall tables/tall stools. I guess that's a normal saloon/public bar split these days.

It's clearly an active pub at the weekends (it was only sparsely populated during my Wednesday afternoon visit) with karaoke advertised for Thursdays and Sundays, disco (whatever that means these days) on Fridays, and live music on Saturdays.

Unusually for a Greene King pub there's no real ale, and not all of the keg fonts were in use, but to be honest I didn't miss them. I had a half of Guinness at £2. It's a typical madeover GK pub, that's handy for the market.

The Lamb is a decent looking pub that is in an ideal location next to the market place.
The pub has Greene King signage outside but none of their beers inside.
Once inside the bar faces ina single room which is wrapped around the bar on three sides, the floor is bare boarded, the seating is bench type and normal tables and chairs, plus some pew seats, there is a separate area to the rear right which was in darkness.
There were no real ales on the bar,the keg option was John Smiths Smooth Crap which i had and confirm it was crap.
This seemed like a half decent pub that was let down by the lack of one real ale.
