Steve C left this review about The King of Denmark

Te King of Denmark wins the award of being the emptiest and most depressing pub in Islington to venture into on a Saturday night. There were only three other customers and the guy working the bar looked thoroughly miserable as he watched his life disappearing before his eyes. The plasma screen at the rear was off and the jukebox was also switched off so the only sound was the moving of castles and knights as two bespectacled men had an intense game of chess. The dim lighting from the candles in wine bottles on each table was the icing on the cake so I decided to knock my pint back and make for the door while I still had some energy left.

The bar was stocked with standard draught products along with Birra Moretti and Amstel whilst two of the hand pumps were unused leaving Pride and Landlord. Although there is a big neon Guinness sign on the outside wall they don’t actually stock it so I had my first ever pint of Murphys which I thought tasted like water, but I had been on an all day session so my taste buds were probably shot. There is a Thai kitchen here and the food looked to be very reasonably priced, but I know not of the quality.

This could be such a good pub, but I was glad to escape and cannot envisage a return trip, especially on a Saturday evening.
