Popped in on passing by to find a totally featureless and completely empty bar on a Saturday afternoon, it's clearly much more restaurant than drinking venue, I didn't stop.

Poor place well described by Tris below. I won't be returning either.

Tris C left this review about The Winchester

The name in carved brick to the parapet shows that this pub was once called The Carved Red Lion, renamed in 2006 as The Winchester. Well it isn't a pub now, rather it's a cocktail bar with DJs spinning discs until 4.00 am on Saturdays.

We arrived on our early week late evening crawl to find a fairly typical cocktail bar. Not traditional, not stylish, not super modern...just a bit bland. Sort of a cheap attempt to appear upmarket; naturally all the pub's fittings have been ripped out.

Our only other drinking partners were two middle-aged couples who were pissed off their faces and starting to fight with each other, bumping into us with a slurred 'sorry'. The barman looked thoroughly fed up and feeling the urge to leave pronto, we necked our halves of £2.30-a-half craft ale and looked for anywhere else.

I think this must be the worst place in N1, so no surprises that I won't be returning.
