A fairly large pub opened out with three separate interlinked walk through area's , the main bar area is rather plain in appearance with various seating area's, to the left is a room more set for dining and to the rear a more cosy low ceilinged room with dangerously low oak beams.
There is apparently a secret garden beyond here, I didn't look so the secrets safe. Beers on were rather run of the mill, five handpumps offering up Doom Bar, Abbot, Hogs Back TEA and T. Taylors Landlord which was fine and also Lillies Mulled Cider. Wasn't my kind of pub with an unreasonable amount of flashing gaming machines and some bland piped music.

Now a Stonegate pub.

Visit December 2014
This is quite an unusual Spoons as noted below since there is no external Wetherspoon signage at all. whether this is due to it being a listed building or JDW didn't want to spoil the outside of an old pub is unclear. An old Surrey beer guide reveals that it was probably owned by Courage and was used as an occasional live music venue. It became a Wetherspoons at the end of 1998.
Inside it is still very much a normal sort of pub, albeit with one large room. The totally unrestricted dart board with a proper line to stand at is very unusual for a Spoons.
On the bar there were eight pumps with one unused, GK Abbot doubled up, GK IPA, a cider, Hogsback TEA, London Pride and Arundel Stronghold, not a brilliant selection but it is on the small side for a Spoons and Haslemere does not appear to be a major town centre.
I went for the Arundel Stronghold (£2.55), a typical malty Sussex brew that they seemed to think should be served with a very tight sparkler. Not only was this completely stupid but it also meant I had to get it topped up. The quality was OK but it's not one of my favourite beers.
This is more a typical small town pub than a Spoons and is OK but the so-so beer selection and pointless use of the sparkler let it down for me. It's also a bit pricey for a Spoons but that's hardly surprising in a town that boasts a shop selling Polo stuff.

A fairly unbranded Spoons both outside and in. Housed in a historic building (was a hotel) rather than the usual 1970’s converted carpet showroom, it is pretty small inside and based over two rooms. There’s plenty of ancient-looking oak beams and supports which may well be original. The bar is located in the right-hand room, as well as the more interesting seating areas (including a fairly private recess jokingly referred to by the regulars as ‘the VIP lounge’). Bits of the interior are, on closer inspection, quite tatty though the frieze at the entrance is nice. Haslemere seems to be a pretty quiet place during the average weekday afternoon and this JDW was no exception with only a handful of punters in situ. A fairly good selection of ales on for a Spoons this size, my Marstons Oyster Stout was in decent form. Staff were on-the-ball and quick to clear tables. In a rarity for Spoons there was a dartboard in an alcove which looked like it got used. So overall, not a bad one. A few quid spent re-doing the paintwork would make this a decent place. 6.5
