Not much seems to have changed here in the many years since Steve C's review from 2011 below. It was, as he reported then, "heaving when I visited ... so much so that it was extremely difficult to get to the bar". Now, as then, there were two real ales available, and (just like JAQPTIO's review of 2015) there was London Pride and a rugby themed special from Fullers, though beers are now priced at £5 a pint, making this the most expensive of the bars I tried in the St Pauls area on this visit. One major point in this bar's favour is that the bar staff were friendly and made a point of engaging with their customers, which is something that can easily be neglected when it's this busy. If I were to visit again, I would certainly aim for a less busy time of day, if possible.

As mentioned below, this is a curious mix of old and new - I'm assuming that this was once a bookshop called Shaw's?
Split level, mixed furniture, panelling to walls and ceiling with a white and dark grey colour scheme and muted music.
Ales: Fuller's London Pride and Red Fox.
Not bad if passing and miles better than Rudd's down the road.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Shaws Booksellers
Attractive curved exterior, with a bright modernised interior featuring a split-level bar but mostly traditional wooden furniture. As you would expect, it gets pretty busy when the nearby offices close (but at least they don't put the music up too loud unlike many City pubs). Although a Fullers house, it only features two handpumps: Fuller's Pride and Front Row (£4.40) on this visit. Overall, a slightly curious (but not unappealing) mixture of old and new.
