Refurbished and (slightly) renamed since my previous review, the single room layout remains the same, but it is now much more contemporary than was previously the case. The barman was friendly and chatty, and despite signs advertising Sunday lunch (we were there at 1:00pm) the pub was at best, half full.

Décor wise it is now quite contemporary as mentioned, with attractive grey mottled tiling on the floor in the front half of the pub and pale wood strip in the rear half. Paintwork is mostly battleship grey, with a couple of partitions here and there to segregate the searing arrangements. Some of these had etched glass with a penny on. The seating was a mixture of padded benches around the perimeter and some high stools in the middle of the pub, some of which were height adjustable. In a nod to the pub’s name, various financial artefacts were on the walls, including some very old cheques and an old drawing of a banking hall that was covering a TV screen. The bar counter was clad with old wooden panelling, whilst the racking behind it was very industrial in style. Large windows at the front make the most of the outlook and the wallpaper at the front of the pub was printed to look as though it were covered in beer mats. A rather poor imitation of the real thing, I thought.

Beers on tap were 6X and Horizon from Wadworth’s, along with 12 Apostles and Notorious from the Bristol Beer Factory. Two further pumps appeared unused, although a board behind the bar did include a couple more that were coming soon. Ciders meanwhile were Thatcher’s Gold, Thatcher’s Haze and BBF North Street on tap, along with Orchard Pig’s Hogfather served from a box behind the bar.

Good Wadworth's pub with a friendly welcome and well-kept beer, with entrances at either end. Interior pleasant, although perhaps a bit too 'designed by head office', but would be happy to spend more time there.

This is a single room Wadworth's pub, and one of the few "proper" bars on the Whiteladies Road strip. It’s a reasonable size with a largely wood panelled interior and a few large Wadworth’s mirrors along one wall. Besides this there are a few old black and white photos of the local area. The central floor area is wood strip with carpet down either side. Sport is obviously a bit of a theme here with a couple of plasmas, a projector screen in one corner and a list of forthcoming matches chalked up on a board. Fortunately the volume was muted, so it was not too intrusive.

There is some red button back bench seating long one wall with a mixture of tables and chairs elsewhere. If you take a visit to the loos, the original vault door opposite the gents is an interesting feature left over from the days when the building was a bank.

Beers on tap were all from Wadworth’s with their - 6X, Henry's IPA, Horizon and Bishop Tipple. Ciders were well represented with Thatcher's Gold, Weston’s Traditional and Stowford Press.
