Although the entrance to the Aire Bar is at street level, there are some stairs down to the basement. The bar occupies several rooms with vaulted ceilings and windows and doors looking towards the riverside terrace. The building was a warehouse associated with the woollen export trade, using the Aire & Calder Navigation. Now the upper floors seem to be accommodation. It was fairly quiet here at the time of my mid-to-late-afternoon visit, with no one actually in the bar - a dozen or so people were outside enjoying some sun and the view across the river. There are two bar counters - suggesting that they get busy later on - which each have three hand pumps offering Ossett White Rat and two Ilkley beers. The Rat was in good condition. The walls had some Leeds-related stuff - "we're going to see you win", "marching on together" and such - and there's a pool table. It's pleasant enough but not my sort of place and nothing to tempt me back - I already know the words to Marching On Together.

Aire bar is a modern bar located on the Calls and has a nice outside drinking/smoking area overlooking the river. You enter down a couple of flights of stairs into a large open plan room with various sofas tables and chairs scattered around on hard wooden floors. On the left of this room is another room that has been partially knocked through but still retains a separate feel. There are two identical bars on either side of the two main rooms. Following on from this is another “separate room that has been opened up that has the majority of the dining focused seating although food can be ate anywhere in the bar as long as you have a table. The bar a very nice original arched brick celling that has been restored which had a nice traditional feel among the mainly modern backdrop. Sport is a big player her with numerous screens dotted around the pub showing two different matches on my visit. There is a bit of a lack of seating compared to the size and footfall of the bar meaning that even at moderately busy times its usually standing room only which can be a little annoying if you don’t like that kind of thing. The two bars duplicated the usual keg line up and had some rarer national brands such as red stripe and some craft beers such as Sam Adams, kozel and Blue Moon. There was also three cask ales doubled up on each bar serving Tree boom Yorkshire sparkle, Stod Fold Golden (££.50) and another beer I Failed to see. I thought the Yorkshire Sparkle was past its best but drinkable (it had a very bald lifeless taste) but the Stod fold was much better and a nice rich hearty golden beer. I did overhear a man being charged £4.10 for a pint of Amstell which I thought was outrageous in this part of the world but there were plenty in here paying those prices. Overall an enjoyable time was had and they do a pretty good burger menu that is priced quite well. To say it’s a sports bar the prices and decor mean it attracts less dick heads than similar venues would which can only be a good thing and the large groups of mostly men in here all seemed to be on the better behaved spectrum. Wouldn’t out of my way to come back here but if a good match was on and Around the area it’s not a bad spot to grab a decent ale and enjoy the game. Better than many similar venues.

You have to go down lots of steps to gain entry to Aire Bar.
Once down the steps there is an oblong shaped room with a vaulted ceiling, the floor is bare boarded, there is a mix of seating types.
I had a drink of Rat White Rat which went down well,i only noted two other beer as the pub was busy on my Early Saturday evening visit, one was from Bosuns and the other called Aire Bar None.
It was very busy on my visit.
I would be happy to visit here again.
