An interesting looking pub from the outside, with a traditional interior, with a horseshoe shaped room wrapped around the original mahogany bar. A renaissance fireplace on the right hand side of the bar area and black steel columns, made up for the limited choice of beer. There were five handpumps on the bar with three in use, serving Doombar, St Austell and Purity. I had a quick half of Purity UBU, was about the best bet.

Due to its association with the nursery rhyme emblazoned on the façade, this pub can probably lay claim to being the World's Most Famous Pub (that and The Angel at the top of City Road, closed 1921, which gives its name to the area and square on the UK Monopoly board). Well described below, our one visit was made about 6 years ago and I would say that the current pub is an improvement, a little more traditional than before with a fine Victorian interior displaying some attractive glazed tiles and old school furniture. No TVs were in evidence - a good thing - and the crowd was mixed, though the music was a little loud.

Service was OK and ales on were: Purity's UBU, Koma's Off The Wall, an empty clip and St. Austell's Proper Job at a pricey £2.15 a half, though good.

This isn't a great pub, though I would suggest that it's better than the reviews below would have you believe - as mentioned, an improvement on our last visit. This is really one to experience for the fame factor, but otherwise I wouldn't go out of my way to come here again - makes for a useful thirst quencher on the way to The Wenlock.

I have walked past this pub many times in the past going to and from the Wenlock Arms, so this time decided to give it a go. A large opened out pub fairly busy on a Saturday night,England v Germany was on a TV screen until it went haywire and got turned off.Five pumps with four on,Ilkley Crossroads, Purity Ubu, Skinners
Lushingtons and unfortunately Doom Bar,The Skinners beer was in good nick.It was better here than expected.
