Old Boots left this review about Chennell's

A big corner pub with little touchs, some stained glass here, a leaded window there, a fireplace, a bit of dividing wall, hinting at something lost. Nonetheless a popular place as it was fairly busy on a Wednesday lunchtime visit. Constant music, lots of screens on horse racing and machines here and there. Very interesting carved heads above the bar back. There’s a bank of three pulls with just an average Hobgoblin plus many, many keg taps that will be familiar to all. Uninterested staff, well the bloke who served me was a bit gormless, but others were better. The smell of food hits you as you walk in but the waiter lad had a long white apron lending the gaff some much needed tone. Probably should be renamed Kinnells.

Chennell's is a large pub that is situated in the middle of Barnsley.
Once inside there is a very large single room, there is a long bar on the right side in a narrow area which has comfy bench seating and small stools, the rear area is much larger and dog legs to the right, the seating here is more bench seating and normal tables and chairs, there is a DJ booth to the front left, the TVs were showing darts and decent background music was playing.
There were two real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Sonnet 43 Abolition, which was a very nice drink, the other real ale was Sonnet 43 The Raven.
The pub was very busy with drinkers on my pre 11am visit.
I quite liked this pub,one i could settle in for a few.
