John and Janice Larnach are the new owners of the pub and have renovated the interior as well as enhanced the range of brews available as it is now a free house. The restaurant is opening shortly and they have a whole series of events lined up ranging from darts/doms, quiz night, feature turns and clairvoyants. Its a very friendly and welcoming atmoshphere. I love it.

The Brown Trout is lovely Pub, muddy boot and dog friendly offering fantastic traditional home cooked food all day. Just off the weardale way and the Bishop Auckland to Brandon walkway.It offers a great stopping off point on a walk with a warm friendly welcome and stunning views of the wear vally from the south facing terrace
