The Dorothy Inn is located on the Esplanade in Weymouth and has café seating out the front facing the beach and sea. The interior is a little grubby and the décor minimal. The absence of any other customers at 19:30 on a recent Thursday evening did nothing to add to the atmosphere. The bar runs along the right hand wall and there is a raised area beyond that houses a pool table. Seating stretches up the left hand side of the pub and there is a table by the front window. Sky Sports is shown and there are plasma screens located throughout the pub. There is a door that leads to a sports bar, but I didn’t visit on this occasion.
The bar supports five hand pumps that were drawing Otter Bitter, Doom Bar and two cask ciders. The fifth hand pump was off. Standard draught is also available and I found the service to be polite enough. Cheap food is served throughout the day.

I didn’t warm to this pub and I don’t plan to return any time soon.

Called in here on a short break in Weymouth because I remembered it used to advertise in the CAMRA monthly newspaper. Unfortunately things have obviously changed here as there were no real ales available, just a selection of glistening keg fonts ! The place is quite basic and I got the feeling it is probably popular with the younger clientele at weekends. Emphasis on being a sports bar is quite strong. Quite pleasant sitting outside in the sunshine facing the beach (across the road !) but not much else to entice me to make another visit. One thing which puzzled me was the sign which said they open for breakfasts at 5.00am on saturdays and sundays. Couldn't really work out why they would have any trade at 5.00am on a sunday, unless it's possibly because there is an early morning sailing of the channel island ferry which leaves from nearby.

The Dorothy Inn is on the sea front.
Once inside here the bar is on the right and the main drinking area is bare boards there is also a raised area at the back that is mainly for people eating meals.
The first time we came in here the beer choice was very good with about 8 real ales on the bar this has gone down over the years.
On our first visit we had a drink of Cotleigh Tawney which was a very nice drink the other beers were Weymouth Quay Pale Ale, Dorothy Bitter which was an house beer and Bass.
The pub does meals but the last time we came in here they was'nt that good.
