The minimalist style pub sign and demonstrative lettering on the front elevation prepared me for a food-led stripped out interior style of place, however once inside it was apparent that the original layout and features had been respected to a certain degree, although the walls are olive green and the bar is painted black. Tables have empty wine bottles with the "labels" listing the wines available. The Saloon and Private Bar entrances remain, and there are four main interconnecting areas. Most drinkers seem to congregate in what was the saloon, a carpeted room with banquettes, normal chairs and tables, an attractive large fireplace with stacked logs and a bookcase. The adjoining private bar area has bare boarded flooring and a welsh dresser in the corner, although the area beyond is more "modern" with tubular metal high stools. Beyond here is Long's Brasserie.
Another rear room off the Saloon has sofas, tables set for eating but also a dartboard (with seating directly in front) and a flat screen TV on the wall. There is a pleasant garden beyond here.
Table skittles, shove h'penny and a bagatelle board are available, there is a bagatelle league displayed, Tuesday is quiz night.
Three handpumps, Doom Bar, Young's Ordinary and one unclipped.

Suburban local, modernised in a tasteful way, with sofas, armchairs etc replacing the pool table. Was extremely pleasant mid-afternoon - will certainly drop in again. Beers good too. Has large garden - hopefully they are going to do something with it.
