Nice enough country pub with friendly staff. Beer seemed a little tired and was expensive, the food was OK but also expensive. This was mid-week lunchtime, we were the only ones eating and there were a couple of locals at the bar, consequently the atmosphere was a little flat. Overall below average.

This is a L shaped pub with a conservatory at the back overlooking the patio and garden. The garden has a childrens play area. Inside it appears to have been refurbished not that long ago and has a plastic corporate feel to it, complete with 1980s wallpaper. Our main gripe is the prices. AK at £3.05 and Coke at £1.90 are not justified. I have difficulty understanding McMullens pricing policy. This pub is similar to The Volunteer at Waltham Abbey and both are overpriced, yet there are other McMullens pubs that we feel are better, where the prices are measurably cheaper. Like The Volunteer, it gets a rating of two.
