The Rutland Hotel was a large pub that was at the bottom of bath street and opposite the now closed Monday Arms.
Once inside there was one very large room at the front which was carpeted and quite comfortable.
The pub was a Shipstones tied house and there were two real ales on the bar i had a drink of Shipstones bitter and this was ok but not as good as most Shippos houses in Ilkeston the other real ale was Shipstones mild.
I first visited this pub in 1980 but went in it many times after that.
Sadly this pub has now been pulled down and this area of Ilkeston now looks different to what it used to look like.
