This pub is a really surprising find in a very rural location at the top of a hill.

Most customers and their many dogs were enjoying the sunshine in the rear garden when we arrived. We opted to sit inside, which had plenty of character.

The friendly and knowledgeable barman soon served us. I had a couple of real ales to choose from, both from Dovecote who now run the pub - Speckled Jim & Dove From Above. Unusually for such a location, there was also a good craft beer choice - Dovecote Stop the Pigeon, Cwrw Ial Kia Kaha! & Glen Affric Brighter Daze Ahead, in addition to Snail's Bank Rhubarb Cider.

I chose the Speckled Jim, only to then notice a boxed real cider in the fridge - Dee Richard's Medium. This was certainly a fine drinks choice given the pub's remote location.

Food wasn't being served during our visit, but I would thoroughly recommend the detour off the A55 to search this one out.
