This pub has certainly changed since the last time I was here. Previously it was a rather mundane place inside but it is now a much more lively place. Its now a lot brighter and a lot more modern. There is now more real ale choice as there are 5 handpumps. A decent mix of beer styles were on on my visit with pale, blonde, stout and bitter beers on.

This old pub seems to have had a fair bit of money thrown at it since the last review making it a rather different place. The darts and pool have gone and I could see no sign of a jukebox although there was a sixties and seventies soundtrack playing. Inside it's a wide rectangular room with extra areas to each side of the central bar. Furnishings are varied with some low tables and chairs, benches and sofas.
I got here just after midday on a rainy October Friday so it wasn't that busy. Food seems to play an important part here.
My ancient North Wales beer guide lists this as an M & B pub selling Brew XI and Mild on electric pumps. Today it has four hand pumps with a fifth devoted to cider. Three beers were available, Adnams Lighthouse, Marstons Wainwright and Conwy California. I went for the California (£3.60) which was in good nick but sadly I forgot all about the CAMRA discount.
You could never call Colwyn Bay a destination ale town so this place and the new micropub around the corner are more than welcome although the ale choice here was a bit disappointing. It's GBG 2018 listed.

Soup Dragon left this review about Central Hotel

This is a rough stone built corner pub and hotel, which looks Victorian, especially with its roof which gives it a Gothic look - with its pitch and finials. It has several dormer windows and Bass etched glass in the main bar. The pub had at least two rooms, but I only saw the bar, which had a pool table and a couple of dart boards. Liverpool FC stuff was on the walls and the TV had the footy on. There was a jukebox, but no music. The decor is cream and coffee with a laminate floor. The service was fine and the clientele mature and local. Beer; usual taps with one real ale - Marston's Pedigree, which was poor at best. A friendly enough pub, but i get the feeling they don't sell much of the real ale.
