Up a short slope from the harbour is this refurbished pub with a clean, brightly painted interior. One room with a small bar selling Atlantic and Sea Fury at time of visit. There is also a sun patio signed upstairs (not visited). Not unpleasant.

Had a walk up the steep hill to this pub which has a very traditional feel to it. There were 3 ales on the bar and we chose Adnams Explorer and Skinners Betty Stogs and took them outside to the seating in front of the pub. Both were fine. The menu on the pub wall looked interesting for those who enjoy fish dishes.

A terraced traditional little pub and restaurant that also does accommodation. The pub is in white rendered rough stone, with black paintwork around the windows, as well as having dormer windows too. It has a little porch and an upstairs patio area, as well as a few tables outside the front door. Copious flowers brighten the exterior up further.

The interior has a modern upstairs restaurant in white and cream, with high backed chairs and with bistro art on the walls. I didn't eat so can't comment on the food. The bar room is open plan, but in two halfs. The main bar is to the left on entry, it is here that the actual serving bar is - it faces you on entry. The decor is white and white wood panel, with some blue, with a white and white beam ceiling and red patterned carpet. There is an undressed stone fireplace here too. There is a loungey area to the right which is laid out for pub dining. It is in white walls and ceiling, with red patterned carpet and another stone fireplace. There are some books here too. There are a few ship and yacht pictures on the walls, otherwise it looks a little bare. Thee was no TV that i saw, and the background music was general and at a decent level. The service was friendly and there was just one other inside and a few on the upstairs patio.

Beer; usual tap stuff with Sharpe's Doombar, Skinner's Betty Stoggs and Otter Ale on handpull, the Otter and Stoggs were fine.

A lovely little place that manages to keep a modern restaurant separate from the pub element. Definitely worth a stop off if visiting the castle.
