Soup Dragon left this review about Dolphin Inn
A nice end terraced Georgian styled St Austell pub consisting of two adjoining buildings at different levels (due to the slope of the street) – both cottage styled, in cream rendered stone, with black paintwork. They both have central entrances, with the lower building having a porch. Both have sash windows. There is a rear bear garden with play area for the kids.
The interior had a single room that I saw, which was a straight room, with a side area in which there was a dart board and a TV that wasn’t on at my visit. The serving bar faced me on entry and to the left, down a few steps was a more dining area, with tables and chairs. The décor is cream walls, with wood panel, cream and beam ceiling and a stone floor near the bar and patterned carpet in the dining area. There was a nice stone fireplace at the far end. The walls has a few old photographs on them, as well as a couple of mirrors. They do food here, but I didn’t eat so can’t comment on that. The music was general stuff and at a decent level. The service was friendly and there were a few locals in as company.
Beer; usual tap stuff with St Austell Tribute and Trelawny on handpull. The Trelawny was a bit past it’s best and was replaced with a new barrel immediately and a fresh pint served when I queried it – excellent.
I enjoyed my brief stop-off here and would be more than happy to return.
