Colin Walker left this review about Railway Hotel

The best bar in Denny. The Railway Hotel, which is situated at 2 Broad Street at the main centre of Denny, diagonally opposite the Church. The name of the hotel derives from this being the only hotel in Denny (and is still so) and was nearest to the old railway, now no longer just less than 200 yards down the Glasgow Road. The railway ran east west parallel to Dryburgh Avenue. The Caledonian Railway opened a branch line to Denny from Larbert in 1850, but regular passenger services ceased in July 1930. However rail freight continued until the early 1960s, with occasional passenger excursion trains during this latter period. The original stationmasters house still stands opposite Dryburgh Avenue. The hotel has been ran for the 31 years by the same proprietor, an ex footballer who played during the 1970’s to early 1980’s. The man has a great knowledge of football, this hotel & bar and of the licensing trade. The pub by the barman’s own admittance has done very little to the pub. One will feel they have stepped back in time to a more traditional era. This is not to be negative about the place if feels more like a home from home. I seen just 2 of the bars characters whom like to sit in the same seat at the same end of the bar, a thing that the modern pub don’t have anymore. I had pint MacLachlan's ale, which is very similar to Belhaven or Caledonian Best. I kept its head all the way down to show a good pint. There is a pool table over in the far corner, which is out of the way bar area. As this is a hotel there are rooms available upstairs.
