I revisited this place on a Friday night and spent a very enjoyable hour in the upstairs bar. It was very crowded and boisterous with live music. Everything was much the same as on my previous visit, except for an increase in prices. Definitely one of Inverness's best pubs, this is not to be missed by any drinker on a visit to the city.

Hidden up an alleyway leading into Inverness’s historic Victorian Market, this is an old established pub consisting of a downstairs bar and an upstairs lounge. The bar has a rather rough and ready atmosphere and the sign warning that CCTV is in operation, combined with the presence of door stewards, even on a Thursday night, suggests that trouble is not unknown here. It should be in the Guinness Book of Records for having what must be the world’s tiniest male pub toilet, with no room to swing even a very small cat and space for only two at the urinal. Upstairs is more up-market, featuring live music every night, with no entry charge. McEwan’s beers predominate, with 70 Shilling, 80 Shilling and Export (at £3 a pint) on draught, as well as Guinness, Kronenberg, Fosters and Red Stripe lagers and Strongbow and Blackthorn ciders. There is also a good range of whiskies on the gantry. A very popular pub, with the bar being mainly male dominated and the lounge more mixed.
