This pub recently (late 2013) underwent a major (for the area / type of pub it is) facelift, although still known as the "Westering Winds" the new all white modern(ish) looking facade sports the name "The Winds" now, in large letters - The bar strikes a bit of a lonely figure sitting on its own on a pretty quiet street (directly behind T J Hughes and across form the large outdoor car park ) On entering the smallish bar you find a nice clean bright tidy light wooden bar area that stocks a fair selection of standard beers and spirits (£3:10 for a pint of tennents - Feb 2014 ) - on the right as you enter is a nice seated area with a few nice sofas and chairs and further on at the back is an area for karaoke and live music - 2 tv screens are on volume low and the fruite machine is stil there - clientèle I would imagine are 90% locals (a few looked familiar from my visits to other bars) and seemed a nice lot (mostly 50 plus)and the bar had a nice atmosphere to it - Bar staff were nice and served me quickly - The facelift really has improved this bar whilst keeping it recognisable but I assume it will remain what it always has been (and should do) a traditional good Glasgow bar - it certainly has the edge on other bars like this as younger drinkers(getting on a bit) will want a nicer looking bar even as they get older) - well worth a visit if in the area

David Ross left this review about The Westering Winds

A rudimentary, but not unpleasant, East End boozer in a rather run down street, this looks almost exactly as I remember it from years ago. It features two TV screens, a juke box and games machines and has an area at the rear which might be intended to be the lounge, but is really just an extension of the bar. My pint of Guinness cost me £2.80 and Belhaven Best, Carling and Tennent’s lagers and Magner’s and Blackthorn ciders are also on draught.
