Handy for the National Library of Scotland, it’s much as described by Steve C although I had better luck with the beer but only just, flat and uninteresting. The three pumps had a choice of three of Stewart’s lacklustre beers, four horseshoes have a standard UK choice plus a few Scots favourites. Stripped back to stone wall on one side by the dumb waiter, the other is wallpapered and covered with brewery and distillery mirrors, the counter looks original the bar back more B&Q, the ceiling is Lincrusta with a nice architrave. The back room is a bit bland.

Steve C left this review about George IV Bar

George IV Bar has a U-shaped bar counter that comes out from the rear wall facing the front bar area. One of the three handpumps was unused which left Stewart’s Edinburgh Gold and Broughton’s Hopo Session IPA. A standard keg range was also available alongside Peroni. At the rear some booths run down the left wall. Dumb waiters at the rear bring up the pub co. food and there are a few old brewery mirrors up on the walls. Feels very touristy and the lines could do with a clean so not somewhere I’ll be rushing back to.
