A small terraced Georgian looking pub in white render and black paintwork. There is a rear patio area.

The interior has a couple of rooms. There is a small family room, which i didn't see, but the main bar room is a straight room with the serving bar down to the left. It is in cream with wooden ceiling and support beams and looks really nice, with a red tile filooring, a large fireplace and red leather seating, stools and chairs. A plethora of fishing photos, memorabilia and brasses cover the walls leaving you in no doubt that you are in Cornwall. There was no TV that i saw and the background music was soft easy listening. They did food, but i didn't eat so can't comment on that. The service was fine and the clientele seemed to be more of the holiday type.

Beer; usual keg stuff, with Sharpe's Doombar on hadpull, which was fine.

A nice little pub and one i would return to - a nice building and interesting ephemera. I do echo the words of the respected Blackthorn below - it is so nice a place that it is a little disappointing to find just one real ale on

An “olde worlde” pub situated on the main High Street. It’s got an attractive beamed ceiling that is suitably sagging to authenticate it’s old world charm and a riled floor. Lots of picture’s on the wall, many featuring shark fishing which is popular in the locality. There’s a small snug known as “The Cuddy” and may nautical touches such as a port hole in the door and a brass propeller mounted on the wall. There was what appeared to be a log fire place, although in practice I think this was just a stack of logs. I couldn’t work out how it would have functioned as a fire.

Staff seemed friendly enough, and there was a decent “pub grub” menu at reasonable prices, with most of the mains being around the £7 mark. In practise though, the food was a little disappointing. My Chicken Tikka Masala, whilst being very tasty, was far more Tikka Masala than chicken, with just three chunks of meat in a sea of sauce. Similarly, Mrs. Blackthorn’s Chicken Kiev was about half the size of the accompanying jacket potato.

The solitary beer on tap was the omnipresent Doom Bar. Ciders were Sharp’s Cornish Orchard and Blackthorn.

This is a tricky one to mark. On one hand it’s a great old pub with a good atmosphere. On the other it only had one beer on and the food was ultimately a bit disappointing.

Friendly, old low beamed pub frequented by discerning locals and visitors alike, serving good food at reasonable prices. The pub retains an "olde world" feel, with walls containing a myriad of local historical photos, and a lovely large fireplace which dominates the main room.
