An end terraced Georgian styled pub and eatery with a slight dog-leg in shape. The pub is in white render with some black and light blue trimmings. It has a modern pub sign and a small figure-head on the outside. There is a patio area at the rear.

The interior has a couple of rooms, with a clear split between dining and drinking, which is great. You enter the bar room, with the serving bar to the right. The decor has cream and coffee wood panel walls, with a white and beam ceiling and mainly a blue patterned carpet, matched by blue seats. Down a few steps is a family dining room in a conservatory (i think) which has part cream walls and stone floor. I didn't eat here so can't comment but it is a more budget menu. There are a few sea pictures and photos dotted about. There is a dart board. There is a TV which was strangely playing some charty music channel silently, while the background music is mixed and at a decent level. The service was fine and the clientele was mixed, with a few more in the dining area than bar.

Beer; usual tap stuff with Old Rosie cider, with Shapre's Doomber, St Austell Tribute and a decent O'Hanlons Yellow Hammer on handpull. The Yellow Hammer is a welcome addition to, although decent, the common Tribute and Doombar.

The least impressive of the Polperro pubs in my opinion. However, it is worth dropping into for the Yellow Hammer alone, but not somewhere i would stay for more than one. Cheaper food for families, it has a place in the village.

On entering, was expecting a pub with open fire low beams ect,but seems to be a "modern" type of pub.It was clean tidy and the barstaff friendly.there is a family room to the backopening on to a garden near the river.
