Busy pub on my lunchtime visit with families looking for something to do with their kids on a rough weather day. Venue is near a relatively new housing estate and not much else in reasonable walking distance. Venue is itself a mixture of old and new (probably made to look like that than genuinely being a mixture of old and new). The bar is in the far corner of the large interior with the interior divided up into different areas by arches. Some stools to sit at the bar on the right most end. The room behind the bar was cosy and had a big screen on the wall showing the Olympics. Most here were to eat and it seems like that is the market aimed for. Traditional pub fayre on offer. Tables and chairs were a mixture of styles. There is a balcony area through doors at the back and leading to a beer garden outside with play area with wooden things to play on (aimed at the kids of the adults here one would presume).
It was really nice to be presented with a couple of cask options. OK, one was Doom Bar, but the other was nicely kept Wye Valley Butty Bach. Typical keg range, nothing vaguely crafty here with Old Mount cider (berries & cherries) and Inch’s ciders, Guinness, Neck Oil and four mainstream lagers (Cruz, Amstel, Moretti & Heineken).
Pleasant pub but not the sort of venue that is going to make me do the trek to return.
