Will Larter left this review about Royal Head

Formerly two pubs, the Kings Head and the Royal Oak, which accounts for the unusual name. Referred to locally as the Kings, the larger building is now a traditional two-room inn with black beams, an old inglenook fire-place and incongruous video channel TV screens showing stadium rock.

On the bar are three hand pumps, with Greene King Abbot Ale, Wye Valley HPA and Kings Ale (which I was informed is rebadged Hancocks Bitter). I went for the HB, which was in good condition on the Saturday but getting a little tired when I returned on Monday (when the TVs were showing a football match). All the pubs I went into in town seemed to have a slightly different client base: this one was mostly retired or nearing retirement age, with a more conservative feel compared with the informal crowd at the Old Mill or the Stag.
