''The rip off prices'' appear to have been amended with it being £2.60(£2.00 happy hour 4-6pm) for an alright Allbright Welsh Bitter. I was poured a Worthy's by mistake which was off and I have encountered a few rough beers here once when the Barman forgot which pump had the ''bad barrel'' on and couldn't be bothered to change it preferring to use the other OK pump. How many times would he accidentally use the bad one in a day?
The place looks a bit grim and needs to be brightened up and is missing a trick as Aberystwyth is crying out for an open all-day good, clean real ale place around the Station area. The Landlord and Landlady are two of the most hospitable in Aberystwyth which is a town that the locals flock to when run by friendly owners as the Kara run Nags Head proved. Include good beer with a more welcoming decor and Beer choice and keep the reasonably priced Beer and I firmly believe the Cambrian could become renowned again and would nail the competition in the area which has plenty of very average pubs.
The Night time funny Cocktail crowd could still be catered for and I'm sure being able to see your food would attract more diners during the day.
I understand that a serious refurbishment of the whole premises is needed with the hotel being even more urgent looking at trip advisers reviews and wont come cheap. Yet I can only see it going one way in it's present condition which would be a shame.

Originally a comfy boozer, this place went for a full-on refurb and is now a binge drinkers paradise – an IKEA cocktail bar. Massively popular. Star Wars and University-themed cocktails, with their ingredients, are plastered all over the walls on slate discs. Token real ale (Pride or Hancock's HB) not that it gets drunk much though. Getting scruffy inside now and the toilets are appalling. Very loud.
