Very roadside pub (how has it avoided being demolished by a passing artic lorry?) with comedy keypad parking over the tarmac, crossing back was like being the eponymous character in Horace Goes Skiing. ‘Traditional modern’ interior - red pub carpet, cream walls and brown beams over what looked like three distinct rooms that have been incongruously smashed into one over the years. Two Otter beers, Bright and Witch (NBSS 3.5) as well as a good quality gun lemonade. Sadly there were no other customers (on a Saturday evening!) the place was cold to extent I kept my jacket on and the landlord made no attempt to engage with us aside from taking the beer order. Think I see where the problems lie here. Shame, as he can obviously keep a good pint!

A Victorian roadside inn which still does B&B. There is a car park and garden the other side of the A36, a ring of lawn with benches surrounding the parking area. Inside has been recently refurbished and consists of three main bar areas which have been opened out to form a single labyrinthine room. There is a dart board, a TV screen and WiFi, and the walls are adorned with various sporting artefacts, predominantly worm dangling, not surprising given the proximity to the River Wylie. There is a jukebox whose emanations were quite annoying. Family and canine friendly, there are a variety of seating types including a small sofa just for the dogs. Two ales on draft, both from Otter: Ale and Bitter. The Bitter was in excellent condition. A third pump had a 'coming soon' sigh on it. It's a really decent local, and I'd be happy to overnight here.
