Martin Brinkworth left this review about Rose & Crown

The Rose & Crown, Worton re-opened it’s doors on the 15th July ‘09, after having been closed since Easter. We - Martin, Cyrille and Paula, had a couple of months to re-furbish the pub and to get the bar, kitchen and public areas’ how we wanted them and working to their full capacity.

On opening night, there were obviously teething problems - seeing as the beer had to come direct from the barrels because the piping wasn’t finished, it’s a good job the cellar isn’t too far away! It was great to see some old friends, as well as new ones, welcoming us to the village.

Martin Brinkworth is the Chef/Landlord, who having had a couple of years break from the hustle and bustle of kitchen life, was itching to get back to it! He has been working in hotel and pub kitchens all his working life, and although has a couple of years out, was still actively involved within kitchen/chef activities.

Cyrille and Paula Portier currently own and run The Bridge Inn at West Lavington. This is a new venture for them - running two pubs, but so far so good! Cyrille still cooks at The Bridge but both he and Paula are there to back up and support Martin. I think they call it age and experience!

We are very passionate about The Rose and Crown - there have been a few landlords over the years but we would like to bring stability, and support the local people who hopefully see their local pub as important to the village as we do.
