Mr Winfield is right it’s a steep hill and a stiff climb from the bus stop at the bottom. Fairly rewarding in that it’s a relatively unspoiled old pub, stepping in here is a bit like stepping back several decades. No modern crap here other than piped music (BBC Radio 2), it’s all as it has been for many years. Internally it breaks down into three areas, a middle with the servery where the locals gather when not lurking by the front door and seating areas to left and right. To the left and round into an L shape is a traditional seating area, this one is very homely with photos of locals or the publican’s family and shelves of bric a brac. The right hand area is similar but smaller. Three pulls with Bradfield Farmers or Wainwright, needless to say I had the Wainwright and it was probably as good as that one gets, nowt on the third. Splendid local pub.

The Swan is a stone built pub that is situated up a steep hill from the Red Lion.
Once inside the pub seems pretty much unaltered, there are two small rooms to the front, with a small bar in the front left room which is oblong shaped and carpeted, there is bench seating and small stools, the right side as two more small rooms.
There were three real ales son the bar,i had a drink of Ilkley Mary Jane which went down very well, the other real ales were Leeds Pale and John Smiths Cask.
Quiet background music was playing and the pub was fairly busy on my Saturday afternoon visit.
This is a very pleasant pub to have a drink in,well worth the walk uphill to get to it.
