Will Larter left this review about Travellers Rest
A popular village local, with plenty of people in my age group enjoying their midday meal. Is there a special deal for pensioners? (I still struggle to write that while acknowledging that the category includes myself.) I was here for pub ticking and beer scoring, rather than eating pub grub with my mates, a far more important purpose, and I have to say that the Hobgoblin Gold was NBSS 3.5, which surprised me. The other beer was Wainwright, with two hand pumps not in use on a Wednesday afternoon - and quite possibly not at all. (The pub closes between 2:30 and 5:30, just like the old days.) It's an easy enough walk from the railway station and my bus into Holmfirth was punctual, but that A616 is a mighty unpleasant road to be either walking along or standing at a bus stop beside. Nowt wrong with the pub, but I'd take a deal of persuading to come back here.
