Will Larter left this review about The Elephant & Castle
This pub looks the real deal, a proper pub-like building in a location that is just off the town centre and, as WhatPub points out, "at least four ales on at all times". These turned out to be Bradfield Farmers Blonde, Tetleys Bitter, Sharps Doom Bar and Robinsons Trooper. I went for the Tetleys, which at first seemed to be ok, but a slight sour edge soon became apparent. I would normally complain and get it changed, and quite possibly this was just that the beer in the pipes had not been thoroughly pulled through, but I didn't fancy the hassle of getting the lass behind the bar to agree with my assessment - and it was very subtle - so I just drank up and moved on. All the other beers in Holmfirth and environs on my day here were NBSS 3.5 - a remarkable degree of consistency - with this one the sole exception at NBSS 1.5.
