I can only say that things must have gone downhill badly since the last review. A typically tacky Yates, with tacky furnishings in tacky colours, although admittedly the floor wasn't tacky. There were two ales on, plus a couple of Lilley's, in the shape of Bradfield Farmers Blond and Moorhouse White Witch but the quality was pretty appalling even if (or because) the price was on special offer. The place seems to be aiming at Spoons rejects, with cheap booze and food but is generally avoidable.

A typical Yates's in many ways with loads of screens and high viz jackets in evidence on my Friday early evening visit. It was also packed with the post work crowd. What was not typical is the fact that they have 5 handpumps, 4 of which were on serving Bombardier, 2 from Moorhouse's and Naylor's Blonde. The Naylor's was in really good nick as well. My half was £1.45 and the barmaid did tell me that a pint of the same was only £2.25. However I was just past the halfway point of a big crawl, so decided to stick with the half. Overall a much better experience than I'd expected. In fact I'm struggling to think of a better Yates's that I've visited anywhere!
