Popped in for a quick one, thank god I only had a half it was as bad as the rubbish purporting to be Taylors Landlord they sell in London and such places. The old lady was behind the bar and very polite, my companions were an old couple, the chap claiming wrongly he was on a bender - his wife putting him right that he was incapable of a bender these days, seated with a very odd friend; later two business types obviously just off the train and in need of libation appeared. I did my pelvic floor exercises between holding my nose and drinking the slops. Still got tart’s boudoir decor by the way.

Quite a bizarre pub this one, we called in here for a swift one before heading for the train. When we arrived in we met an elderly lady sitting at the bar, knocking back Gin. She would have definitely got a part in the TV comedy Benidorm. She was very friendly and told us that a couple of Turkish guys ran the pub.
We arrived in here around 5.30, when the disco in the front room started kicking off with 80's music. Then, a pile of women piled in from the station after an afternoon out in Hebdon Bridge, and then proceeded to party on.
Four ales on handpump, I settled on the Grey Hawk Brewery Nirvana Pale. Prices in here were reasonable and the pub has a friendly and jolly atmosphere.

Will Larter left this review about The Railway

We called in here on our way from the station into the town centre. The interior is quite a surprise after the mundane stonework of the pub's outward appearance. There are festoons of draped curtains in various shades of plush, striped seating clashing brilliantly with the striped carpet, and black chandeliers contrasting nicely with one of those glittery globes that flash reflected light around the room when there's a disco on. My mate's suggestion that it looks like it turns into a lap-dancing club later was probably wide of the mark, though.

The landlord was friendly and welcoming, and the beer was in good condition and reasonably priced. Four hand pumps offered a selection from Timothy Taylor Golden Best and Landlord, plus Copper Dragon Golden Pippin. The beer was in good nick and the décor has to be seen to be believed. I'm not sure about the cookery programme on the TV, though.
